LIC Maturity Claim Process: Documents and Realistic Timelines
18 February 2026 · 7 min read · Claims
LIC usually writes to the policyholder a couple of months before maturity. If no letter arrives, the claim is still yours to initiate — do not wait.
Standard set: discharge form, original policy document, NEFT mandate with a cancelled cheque, PAN and address proof. Any name mismatch between bank and policy records is the most common cause of delay.
Submit four to six weeks ahead of the maturity date. A clean file is generally credited on or around the maturity date itself.
If a policy is assigned to a bank against a loan, the assignment must be released first — start that early, because it sits outside LIC's control.
We prepare and check the whole file free of charge, including for policies bought elsewhere.
