LIC Death Claim Process and Document Checklist
8 March 2026 · 8 min read · Claims
A death claim is classified as early if the death occurs within three years of the policy or its revival. Early claims involve additional investigation and take longer.
The core documents are the claim form, original policy document, death certificate issued by the municipal authority, nominee's KYC and a cancelled cheque or NEFT mandate in the nominee's name.
For early claims, LIC additionally asks for medical attendant certificates, hospital treatment records, and employer or school certificates where relevant.
Submit at the servicing branch of the policy. Non-early claims with complete papers are commonly settled within 30 days of receipt.
